London Marathon 2023 · 23 April 2023 ·
In May 2022 my Grandad Colin was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer and given 3-6 months to live. Sadly, pancreatic cancer has very similar symptoms to other diseases such as diabetes and so often isn’t identified quick enough to be treated.
We lost grandad almost 3 months to the day of his diagnosis and were lucky enough to spend his last months as a family making lots of memories together, mainly national trusts!
The people closest to me will know that Grandad was a father figure to me throughout life and I feel like the luckiest girl in the world to have had him for 26 years.
Although this is my third marathon, it will be the one closest to my heart and I aim to complete 77 runs as he was 77 years old when he passed away.
Any donations to this cause would be greatly appreciated!
It’s unacceptable that more than half of people diagnosed with pancreatic cancer die within 3 months. Survival rates have improved enormously for most cancers, yet for pancreatic cancer, this is not the case. Pancreatic Cancer UK is dedicated to taking on this injustice using every possible means. They're supporting people with pancreatic cancer now, campaigning, and funding vital research to transform the future. Help them to make the breakthroughs that people with pancreatic cancer so desperately need.
