Story
Every 10 minutes another child, teenager or adult somewhere in the world is diagnosed with primary bone cancer.
The Bone Cancer Research Trust is dedicated to saving lives & improving outcomes for people affected by primary bone cancer. Despite being small, they fund more research projects exploring primary bone cancer than any other organisation. Other large UK cancer research charities do not prioritise bone cancer patients, in 2019 just 0.028% of their research spend went to bone cancer – not even close to 1%! Last year alone, Bone Cancer Research Trust committed an incredible £807,824 to pioneering bone cancer research - to save lives!
As a gym, we have arranged with the Bone Cancer Research Trust to fundraise collectively as a gym throughout the month of November.
The goal is for everyone to individually complete 2000 burpees within the month. Burpees can be spread out over the course of the month e.g. 𝟔𝟕 𝐛𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐞𝐞𝐬 𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐝𝐚𝐲 or completed all in one day as coaches Steven Davies & Jolee Gregory will be doing at the end of November (along with anyone else that wants to join them for the same format). Completing the 2000 burpees in one day will format as 11 burpees every minute for 3 hours and 2 minutes. Other variations could be a gradual build up to 2000, starting with 30 on day 1, 40 on day 2, 50 on day 3 etc.
Burpees will be completed either at home or at the gym. If the burpees as completed as part of a separate workout they will still count towards the 2000 total.
