Christine's Fabrica Draw-a-thon Marathon2018

FabricaMarathon2018 · 24 February 2018
Firstly let me thank you for getting as far as my Inkpot & Pen JustGiving page.
I know how many calls and requests we all get on our precious funds, that we’ve worked so hard to gain.
So, let me explain a little about the event and why I’m supporting this campaign by taking part in the Fabrica Marathon 2018.
Opening its doors 22 years ago, Fabrica is a charity with ‘an educational mission: to give everybody the opportunity to enjoy and learn from contemporary art’. Now, for the first time in its 22 year history, Fabrica are having to appeal for help in securing its future.
Fabrica works with many vulnerable and isolated people in Brighton and thousands of people are able to see the most up to date contemporary art because entry is free.
On Saturday 24th February, artists (including myself) and writers are coming together in a Draw-a-thon and Writing Relay to raise money for Fabrica in Brighton.
Individual artists or artist teams will draw for five hours non-stop. Writers will to do sprints of 30 minutes in a relay. We have a fundraising target for the event of £5,000. Each artist hoping to raise £100.
There will be teams drawing throughout the day and individual artists who will work alone. I will be working alone and drawing for five full hours.
If you’re in Brighton or would like to visit that Saturday then please come and watch a non-stop stream of drawings unfurl throughout the day and read new stories as they emerge on screen. We start at 11 am and end at 4 pm.
Entry is free and Fabrica is at 40 Duke Street, Brighton.
Refreshments will be on sale - including cakes!
I feel compelled to support a campaign so close to my heart and my beliefs, I hope you would like to help support my drawing marathon.
Thank you for reading and thank you if you feel able to donate. Don’t look to see how much anyone else has given, if you’re able to give, do so with the knowledge that I will appreciate and be grateful for every penny of your generosity. If I manage to get 100 people to donate £1 each I’ll have hit my target.
I have written more about this event and my personal reasons for taking part on my website's Blots and Splashes page.
