"Nominate an Inmate 2" 24hr Prison Lock-In · 20 May 2017 to 28 May 2017 ·

SOS Africa invests 100% of all donations in the education & care of disadvantaged South African children with regular feedback to sponsors. Since 2003 the grassroots charity has provided children from the ages of 5-18 with education, care and learning support programmes tailored to their needs.

Story

I've nominated myself to spend a day in prison because in the last eight or nine years I've not done enough for charity.

Before university I had direct debits going out to four different charities. I used to organise gigs to raise money for charity and post-uni I had a job as a fundraiser for a while. I even did my work experience at school for Child Hope UK!

Since uni (apart from the brief job fundraising) I have done next to nothing.

Therefore, I'm going to sentence myself to 24 hours in prison to not only punish myself for not doing enough for charity but, by doing so, to raise money for charity. It's the perfect crime. I have to raise £240 as a minimum just to take part but I'd like to get closer to £500 and think this is fully achievable.

I'm sure plenty of people would love to see me spend a day and night in prison. Some probably even think I deserve it so get donating!

Billy Miller has been found guilty of "Not doing enough for charity"

He has been sentenced to 24hrs at HMP Shepton Mallet this May but we need to raise a year's education for an SOS Africa child (£240) to make it happen!
