Story
Cotswold Friends is a local charity, whose mission is to combat loneliness and isolation and support independent living.
Our dad volunteered as a driver for Cotswold Friends ensuring elderly and vulnerable people could attend medical appointments, do their grocery shopping and attend social events. Our dad was often ready and willing to help out on short notice. He loved getting to drive around chatting to people and felt compelled to ensure his elderly and often lonely charges enjoyed their journey and their time out of the house. Most were my dad's age but my dad at 77 years old didn't feel a day over 21 and definitely wasn’t about to start pretending to be old!!!
One of the many clubs Cotswold Friends supports is a lunch club which is designed to get elderly people out of the house and meet new people thus reducing their loneliness and isolation.
