In memory of Maggie Compton
We raise funds to support the Neonatal Unit to improve care for sick & premature babies

Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

In Memory of Maggie has been set up in order to raise money for The Early Births Fund at St Peter's Hospital Chertsey (Neonatal Unit).

As many of you already know, in August 2011 we became very proud parents to Maggie, our first child. However, Little Maggie arrived 15 weeks early at 24 weeks and 5 days and required 24 hour care in the Neonatal ICU at St. Peter's Hospital Chertsey.

Little Maggie battled a hard fight. After 19 days, very sadly, she could not fight any longer and the machines that were keeping her alive were switched off whilst we cuddled her to sleep.

It was shortly after Maggie passed away that we decided we wanted to give something back to the Hospital and to help other parents who also go through the pain of having premature babies. Hence, we set up 'In Memory of Maggie'.

This Charity is very close to our hearts and although we did not have the opportunity to leave hospital with our new born, we still had 19 very special days with our beautiful baby girl. It is thanks to the staff and the equipment at the Hospital that this was made possible for us.

AMBULANCE PULL - Sunday 24th June 2012

We have set up what should be a fun and challenging event on Sun 24th June 2012. Our somewhat ridiculous idea has turned into reality! We are going to pull a Neonatal Ambulance 12 miles from The Royal Surrey Hospital Guildford to St. Peters' Hospital Chertsey. This is going to be a massive event and your support is kindly appreciated. Please come and cheer on the teams!

Please dig deep and give as much as you can. Every single penny really does make a huge difference to many little lives and their parents that go through what we did.

Thank you

Rich and Lauren xxx

We are overwhelmed with the support and donations we have recieved so far. Just a few days to go before the hard pull. Good luck everyone!!

£1000 in less than a month. Thank you so much everyone. 'Just a bit further to go!' I'm sure we'll hear that a lot on the 24th June!!

About the charity

Previously called the Early Births Fund, the fund was set up in 2003 with the aim of raising £250,000 to provide additional intensive care cots for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. This goal was achieved in 2 short years. The fund has continued on to support babies, families & staff on the NICU.
