Story
Thank you for visiting our Justgiving site in memory of Maria, or Nana as she was known to so many.
When Nana arrived in England at Victoria Station she could barely speak any English and had no idea how to get to where she needed to go.
The Salvation Army helped her, getting her on the right train, with handwritten instructions, to be met by 'Sparky' and to start working at the Horse & Groom pub in Singleton. The rest, as they say, is history.......
For this reason Maria gave to the Salvation Army throughout her life and if you would like to make a donation in her memory we are very grateful.
The Salvation Army helps to bring hope to families who are struggling, comfort to those that are lonely and support and shelter to homeless people, as well as, a safe haven for victims of domestic abuse and human trafficking. Their vital work this Christmas will help spread Christmas cheer and transform the lives of those less fortunate.
