In memory of Stanley Fletcher

Bury Hospice provides palliative and end-of-life care to hundreds of residents and their families across Bury. It will cost to run the Hospice this year £4.5million and we raise 87% of this total, but with the support of our community we continue to provide care and services to those who need it.

Story

As many will know, on Tuesday 27th February, my beloved step father Stanley Fletcher lost his short battle with cancer.

After months of attempting to recover a hip injury that happened in June, we were told in November that the reason it wasn’t healing was because he had unfortunately got cancer. We were told he had less than a year to live and from then on we tried to be as hopeful as we could that he would live longer.

However after three months of battling (and he was incredibly strong, brave and optimistic) it came to an end and he passed away.

Although he never got to visit Bury Hospice, him and my mum spoke fondly about it and the doctor that helped Stanley over the time he was going through everything is based there.

They rely on fundraising and that’s why I have taken upon myself to take part in the Yorkshire Three Peak’s Challenge (again) with my friend Hannah.

I did attempt this challenge in September but wasn’t prepared for it and unfortunately failed and only managed one peak. This time I WILL complete it!

The classic challenge is to walk/hike/trek/CRAWL 24 miles, across the three Yorkshire peaks (Pen-Y-Ghent, Ingleborough and Whernside) within 12 hours.

If you could spare a little bit to sponsor me on this I’d be incredibly grateful. If you can’t, I’d also appreciate you using the power of the internet to share this to raise the money Bury Hospice deserve in memory of Stanley.

Thank you x
