Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Essex Police students from intake I are carrying out various fundraising events throughout their training at Essex Police College. We are raising money for two Essex based charities which are the Southend Cystic Fibrosis Association and J's Hospice.

The Southend Cystic Fibrosis Association raises money to provide equipment, and to help alleviate the suffering of local people with cystic fibrosis. They use the money raised to fund many things such as lung function machines, nebulisers, airline oxygen and welfare for families. Cystic fibrosis is a disease which effects vital organs in the body especially the lungs and digestive system by clogging them with thick sticky mucus. It is the UK's most common life threatening inherited disease and affects thousands of babies, children and young people in the UK.  J's Hospice provide hospice and respite care services to young adults aged 16-40 who are living with life threatening and limiting conditions such as cancer, duchenne muscular dystrophy and juvenile huntingdons.

The two main events are an indoor cycle challenge at Lakeside Shopping Centre and to climb Mount Snowdon. There are several other smaller events which include two separate quiz nights, a bake sale and a car wash. The indoor cycle event at Lakeside shopping centre is targeted at covering as great a distance as possible within twelve hours of continuous cycling on multiple stationary road bikes.

Special thanks goes to Cycles UK for providing equipment and bikes for our Lakeside cycle event.
