Event: New York Marathon 2016, on 6 November 2016
Pound pavements, crunch abs, pump iron (or do something less physical!) to empower people with disabilities across the globe during Rio 2016 and beyond.

Story

Our supporters are racing, bench-pressing and bicep-curling to challenge the discrimination and ignorance which denies millions of people with disabilities the basic opportunities to take control of their own lives;to learn, to get a job ,to play a role in family life or to play sport.

20% of the world’s poorest people have a disability (WorldBank). 90% of children with disabilities don’t attend school (UNESCO).

We can continue to change that story. We work with local organisations to meet their local priorities, from helping artisans andproducers to build businesses to supporting the development of the ParalympicFederation of Burkina Faso.

Confirmed activities include:

Paralympic event and raffle at Pure Gym Clifton Moor, York

A 17-strong team in the York 10k

A team in the York 10 mile

You can get involved too - you can donate here or start your own fundraiser. For more on what we do and how to support us go tohttp://www.internationalservice.org.uk/support_us/raiseforrights.html
