Can you help us reach our £10,000 goal for Mental Health Foundation?
One in six of us faces a mental health problem each week and depression is the leading cause of disability worldwide. For 70 years, the Mental Health Foundation has been working towards its vision of a world with good mental health for all. Their mission is to help people understand, protect and sustain their mental health. Prevention is at the heart of what they do, because the best way to deal with a crisis is to prevent it from happening in the first place.
Good mental health is fundamental to thriving in life, and that's why Interstate Hotels & Resorts have decided to take on the Peak District Challenge on 21st September 2019 to support this fantastic charity.
What is the Peak District Challenge?
The Peak District Challenge is a picturesque trekking challenge that offers various levels of distances. We will be entering teams into the 25km (Copper), and 50km (Bronze) challenges.
Who's taking part?
Nicholas Northam, Matt Stray, Devin Grosse, Lorna Reid, Celine Stewart, Emma O'Connell, Sarita Hawney, Gary Patterson, Cheryl Mclaughlan, Shanica Hutchinson, Jen Woolmer, Fiona Whitworth, Dominic Divers, Craig Bingham and Mat Jones.
Every pound raised will go directly to the Mental Health Foundation.
With your help, we aim to raise £10,000, all of which will support the Mental Health Foundation tackle mental health problems at their source. Their vital work covers:
Maternal mental health
One in five women is affected by mental health problems during pregnancy.
Early years in the family
Ensuring every child has the right start in their early years is crucial for their mental health throughout the rest of their life.
Children and young people
Seven in ten of the children and young people who develop mental ill health have not had help early enough.
People of working age
The Foundation has years of expertise in peer support and self-management and they equip people with the skills and knowledge to manage their mental health.
Workplace wellbeing
Giving people the understanding and tools to manage challenges at work is critical to their wellbeing, whether they are managers or being managed. The Foundation works with businesses to help them identify the steps they can take to increase knowledge in their workforce and to introduce the right training and support.
People in later life
Many older people can face a range of issues that create risks for their mental health, including age discrimination, loss, long term conditions and loneliness.
Mental health inequalities
Mental health problems can touch people in any part of society. However, the risks are much higher where people experience discrimination, bullying, violence, poverty, trauma or a childhood with challenging circumstances.
Thank you from all of us at Interstate, and wish us luck!
