Poverty, injustice and discrimination put some people at a much higher risk of poor mental health – but less likely to receive the right support. Our work is driving forward sustainable policy change, to pursue equality, social justice and good mental health for all.

Story

Investigo say:

"Mental health was the clear winner of our subject focus for our chosen charity this year, by an overwhelming response. It has always been hugely important to us as a business to focus our attention where we can really make a difference. We felt that we would make more of a difference with a smaller, local charity (whilst still focusing on the subject matter of mental health) through both our support by raising awareness with our clients and candidates, as well as our fundraising contribution.

For this reason we have chosen to support the Centre for Mental Health, a small charity based in Elephant and Castle. We are extremely proud of announcing that this year we will be raising money to fund a research project by the Centre for Mental Health, in affiliation with the Samaritans, that will be targeting ‘Zero Suicide’.

Did you know that more people die by suicide in the UK than die on our roads in motor accidents? Suicide has increased at an alarming rate in the UK over the past five years, while female suicide rates are at their highest in a decade, male suicide rates are three times higher than their gender counterpart. The majority of people who take their own lives are not in contact with specialist mental health providers at the time of their death.

We will be wholly funding Centre for Mental Health's research into this crucial area, which will bring best practice together across the UK, from our local authorities approach to earlier intervention to those who require help. Best practice can then be communicated out across the UK's practices to influence both process and approach.

We look forward to fundraising for the Centre for Mental Health!"
