Story
I'm really excited (and also really quite terrified) to be running in the marathon next year for Princess Alice Hospice.
Working as a local GP, I'm privileged to witness the amazing support the hospice gives to some of our patients and their families and I am delighted to be able to support this by raising money this way.
I started running in 2014 with couch to 5k and manage to hobble round the Princess Alice Hospice Santa Run rather slowly that year. I'd never been naturally athletic and had stayed away from running with the misguided idea that it wouldn't be good for my rather long suffering back. Since then, I continue to plod but have ventured to complete slightly longer distances including two half marathons (the most recent included torrential rain and adding in an extra few miles by getting lost in the Surrey Hills). Rather than hurting my back, the exercise and fresh air helps and keeps me sane!
Occasionally I'm accompanied on shorter runs by one of my three children (and run past by my much faster husband)! I'm looking forward to their support during the training and they are starting this by running the Santa Run with me at the start of December.
