Story
My name is Ioannis and I live in the UK the last 4 years. I am a PE Teacher in primary school in Bristol and I have started running since 2022.
After completing my first Bristol run last year, I really enjoyed the feeling of taking part in running event as well as motivate and inspire others.
But I quickly felt what's next...?
The idea to run at the iconic running event of London's Marathon in 2024 came up quickly, but I didn't get the chance to get a place through the ballot.
The Meningitis Research Foundation got in touch and asked if I am interested to run for them and help them to achieve their goal. The timing was just right. I had been thinking about running the London's Marathon for a while, and when I saw the chance come up to run for MRF, I knew it was the right fit as it’s something I’m really excited about. My excitement is flourishing from my little niece ''Mariza'', who has been diagnosed with Meningitis just after she was born . Since then, Mariza has been working remarkably hard for hers own purpose, showing great resilience and commitment everyday.
Could I ask to run for a better cause ? My 3 goals were set up back in September and were very clear.
1. Running the 2024 London Marathon
2. Motivate my students to run a Marathon through daily mile in a school year
3. Fundraise for Meningitis Research Foundation
1st goaI has been achieved so far and I have run the iconic London Marathon on 21st of April 2024 with lots of enjoyment.
2nd goal is on its way and lots of my students have ran already a marathon. However, we will be taking part to the Mini London Marathon in schools on 10th of May to celebrate our achievement so far and every year group will try to run a marathon altogether on that day.
3rd goal . We will try to raise £2000 and help Meningitis Research Foundation achieve their goal of a world free from meningitis and septicaemia.
Thanks in advance for your support
