Many of you will know (as I broadcasted it all over instagram, the internet, and even the radio) I have had two blood cancer diagnoses. The first in 2019 (hodgkin lymphoma), and the second just 18 months later (acute myeloid leukaemia). Whilst I was incredibly unlucky, I am not alone. In the UK someone is diagnosed with a blood cancer every 16 minutes and it is the fifth most common type of cancer in the UK. 

To get me into remission, I had months of chemotherapy, some radiotherapy, and a stem cell transplant. However, the road doesn't end at remission. I am still recovering and dealing with the side-effects of treatment 18 months later. The impact of it on your psychological and physical wellbeing is brutal, and that makes funding research into better, less invasive forms of treatment essential. 

That makes this charity particularly close to my heart - Leukaemia UK are working to fund innovative and effective research for better forms of treatment, and have recently made breakthroughs in new forms of treatment for AML. So, Jonathan, James, Ryan, Amelia, Lydia and I will be running / jogging / walking / crawling the London Landmarks half marathon in April. By supporting and raising money for Leukaemia UK, we hope that someone like me might have access to a kinder, less aggressive form of treatment in the future.
