Iona’s 50th year ”Challethon” · 24 May 2021

We support children and families in two ways: 1. Offering hardship support during treatment for Primary Bone Cancer 2. Delivering distraction projects in UK hospitals for children with all forms of cancer. We do this through Storytelling and Pottery workshops which improve mental health.

Story

Reaching 50 has given me  a lot of cause to contemplate my life’s journey and achievements, and how I’d like to go forward into the next 50! I really want to given something back, push myself physically and mentally, and connect with the world and people around me in a positive way. The aim is to raise £5000 over the next year for  a smaller charity that does amazing work to improve the lives of  children suffering from cancer.

There will be a marathon of fundraising challenges to come over the year including :

A 50 mile bike ride, a 20 mile walk, 52 hours of free violin tutoring, 25 hours of voluntary work, a 5000 pieces of litter beach clean, cake and coffee with live music mornings , home cooked pizza evenings, animal adoption,  a book reading challenge ( 26/ one every two weeks for the year) , yoga challenge of 10 daily salute to the sun sequences- and a performance of an entire Bach partita including fugue( something wanted to do by 30, then by 40 , but it has evaded me until 50!
