Story

I was supposed to run Brighton Marathon in April 2022 but alas caught COVID the Friday before the event and was unable to race. After raising so much for Parkinson's UK I wanted to follow through on my end of the deal and run a marathon. So after an entire summer of training I was set to run Richmond run-fest on 11th September when alas our beloved Queen passed away and the event - which runs through two royal parks - was cancelled the Friday before (you may now sense a theme...)

Unable to pass up the moment of being marathon ready for a second time and also not wanting to waste the now 9 months of marathon training, I have decided to run my marathon around my home town of Haslemere, hills and all!

Any further support to Parkinson's UK would be so appreciated. My mum was diagnosed with Parkinson's before Christmas 2021 and her mobility has declined quite rapidly. Parkinson's UK has been an amazing source of information and support to our family as we navigate her condition and the impact it has on her and our lives. It is a real privilege to raise money for this amazing charity and worth all the hard work and training . Any donation would be hugely appreciated.

Much love,

Iona

Anyone can get Parkinson’s. It gets worse over time and there’s no cure. Yet. Funding research into the most promising treatments, we’re getting closer to a cure. Until then, we're improving life for people with Parkinson’s, and the people in their lives. Together we'll find a cure.
