Amsterdam Marathon 2022 · 16 October 2022 ·

ABC is dedicated to the promotion of public awareness of issues concerning democracy and human rights in Iran. Through its programs of research, documentation, publications, and outreach, the Center hopes to help restore the dignity of Iran's countless victims of human rights violations.

Story

On the 16th of October I will be running the Amsterdam full marathon to raise money for The Abdorrahman Boroumand Center, in order support the organisation in their mission to document human right abuses in Iran. In response to the current anti-Regime protests in Iran following the death of 22-year-old Jina (Mahsa) Amini, action must be taken to show support to those fighting against this oppressive regime.

As well as raising money, I aim to raise awareness about the current situation in Iran and encourage people to take action beyond this fundraising page.

If you don't have any spare pennies kicking about- fear not- there is still a lot that you can do. If you've taken the time to visit my fundraising page, please take the following steps below!

Take further action

Raising money is one of many ways you can stand in solidarity with the people of Iran, such as:

  1. Signing this petition: https://www.amnesty.org/en/petition/end-the-protest-bloodshed-in-iran/

  2. Share news and stories about the protest in Iran on social media- your voice matters.

  3. Follow other activists, journalists and human rights advocates such as: (@AlinejadMasih), (NazaninBoniadi), (GissouNia), (RoyaBoroumand), (maasalan).

About the organisation

The Abdorrahman Boroumand Center is an independent organization with no political affiliation. It is named in memory of Dr. Abdorrahman Boroumand, an Iranian lawyer and pro-democracy activist who was assassinated allegedly by the agents of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Paris on April 18, 1991. The Center believes that promoting human rights awareness through education and the dissemination of information is a necessary prerequisite for the establishment of a stable democracy in Iran.
