Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit IOSH West of Scotland JustGiving page.
The higher level of cancer in the West of Scotland has long been associated with the legacy of shipbuilding and other heavy industry. As we know cancer does not discriminate and we sadly lost one of our committee colleagues, Carmina D’Alessandro, in 2018. Carmina was an inspiring and dynamic individual who served the IOSH West of Scotland community well. An individual who brightened the dullest of meetings with a strong and enthusiastic presence.
As part of our annual Certificate of Merit awards dinner, where the Branch recognises the contributions of non-safety professionals who have contributed to improving
health and safety in their workplaces, we feel strongly about supporting local charities. This passion has been shared by those who have attended these events.
During the past two years we have supported the Beatson Cancer Charity through the generous donations of those attending the event. This year, with the lockdown arising
from COVID-19 we were unable to host our annual event, which has meant that we were not able to celebrate achievements nor support the Beatson Cancer Charity.
Beatson Cancer Charity supports people affected by cancer, every step of the way. They make the journey easier by transforming the way cancer care is funded and
delivered. The charity provides services, as well as funding specialists, research and education to invest in a better future for cancer patients and their families.
From the hospital wards, right to the heart of the communities that The Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre serves, and believe everyone should experience cancer with care, with love and with hope. Beatson Cancer Charity are with patients and their families for every step of the journey.
By working within NHS environments, Beatson Cancer Charity is ideally placed to understand the needs of patients and staff. They respond by providing services
and funding that enhance and strengthen NHS care and enable patients and their families to be helped swiftly and compassionately. At the same time their independence as a charity allows them to develop and extend their services
further into the heart of Scottish communities to support more people with cancer before, during and after treatment. The West of Scotland Branch has a reputation of being innovative in supporting our members and in outreach to others.
In order to provide some support to the Beatson Cancer
Charity for the work they do with cancer patients and their families, we have set up this JustGiving page.
We appreciate that many may already be impacted
by reduced income during the current Covid – 19 crisis however we would encourage you to donate, whatever you can.
Thank you
IOSH West of Scotland Branch Executive
