YMCA Young Carers - support our island's youngest carers · 11 November 2015

YMCA Fairthorne Group is an independent community charity working with children, young people, families and individuals across Hampshire and Isle of Wight to lead happy, healthy lives. We're your local community charity. And together with your support, we can achieve so much more.

Story

Money donated will enable YMCA Isle of Wight (part of Fairthorne Group) support children and families across the island.

Our fundraising focus this year is to help YMCA Young Carers reach out to those in need. The island wide service supports children and young people aged 5 -18 who undertake a magnitude of caring roles for close relatives.

In the current climate, we are seeing a steady rise in the number of children and young people who support relatives with a disability, long-term illness or condition.

Currently commissioned by the IOW Council, the service offers respite activities, and 1-1 support sessions for those with a significant level of caring. Sadly often families don’t access all the support available to them, so Young Carers Service works tirelessly with other support services to help turn this around.

In order to offer something for everyone, the service relies on the good will of the community. Their super awesome volunteers support both respite and admin. A significant amount of income comes via donations, and that’s why we need your help.

A HUGE high five from the team and all the children and young people that they support. Thank you in advance for donating.
