Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
EducAid Sierra Leone provides poor and war affected children in Sierra Leone free, high quality secondary education, equipping them to earn their own living in one of the most needy countries in the world.
On 20 June 2012, I will be travelling to Sierra Leone to visit my school friend Miriam Mason-Sesay who is co-founder of and directs EducAid in Sierra Leone. I will be working on a project with the children, teaching them photography and subsequently producing a book of their photographs depicting ‘their world, through their eyes and their imagination’. I am paying for my air fare, accommodation and expenses in Sierra Leone.
I am asking for donations to buy 10 x basic digital cameras (£30-£40), memory cards (£5), spare batteries (£10) and teaching resources to run the project in Sierra Leone. On return to UK, donations and sponsorship will be needed to design, produce, publish and market the book created by the children of EducAid.
All proceeds from the sale of the book will be donated to EducAid. All photographic equipment will be left with the schools for the children and teachers to continue to use.
Please support the work of this great charity as generously as you can - your gift will make a huge difference.
EducAid is administered in the UK, with all those involved working on a voluntary basis. So 100% of donations go directly to the work in Sierra Leone. While we often take our own or our children’s education for granted, that is not the case in Sierra Leone. Education is a building block for life; a route out of poverty not simply for the individuals, but for the country. That comes not just from equipping children to pass exams, but also from EducAid’s ‘no corruption’ approach. You can learn more about their work at http://www.educaid.org.uk/ .
JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Thank you :o)
