Crossbasket House gives families a place to stay while their child is seriously ill in hospital in Glasgow. Children come from all over Scotland and further afield to receive treatment at the children's hospital in Glasgow.

Story

Jenny and I have now completed our walk.  We both thoroughly enjoyed the experience and the weather was kind to us!!  We would both like to thank everyone who kindly sponsored us.

My friend Jenny and I are walking The Great Glen Way (from Fort William to Inverness)  at the end of April 2011, this walk is 73 miles long.   We are doing this walk in memory of my Grandson Jamie who was born on 5 October 2010 and died on 26 December 2010.  Jamie was born with Down's Syndrome, AVSD and Hirschsprungs Disease and spent his short life in Yorkhill Hospital.  Jamie received excellent care by the Doctors and Nurses at Yorkhill.  My son Gary and daughter in law Kerri stayed at Yorkhill Family House free of charge for the duration of Jamie's stay in hospital.  Therefore I wish to repay the kindness and generosity Gary and Kerri received by raising money through sponsorship for Yorkhill Family House.

Yorkhill Family House is invaluable for parents of sick children, it is situated a couple of minutes walk from Yorkhill Hospital and provides comfortable accommodation including  the use of a large kitchen and lounge all free of charge. The use of laundry facilities are also available for a small charge.  Also ample private parking is provided.

Yorkhill Family Houses costs in the region of £300,000 per year to run and relies entirely on donations.
