Plan International Ireland is a development organisation that advances children's rights and equality for girls. Everyday, we ensure that the children who are most marginalised receive the education and essential services they deserve and the protection and care they are too often denied. Your generous donations go to life-saving projects, such as providing clean water supplies and child immunisation, which make an immediate and lasting impact to the world's poorest children. We know that it is impossible for a child to reach their potential unless their community is developing alongside them. Plan International's commitment to each community means that the health, sanitation and education programmes we establish are long-term and sustainable.

Story

Period poverty affects women and girls all over the world. Access to sanitary products and the right to manage menstruation without shame or stigma is essential.

For many, this is not a reality. This is not just a potential health risk - it can also mean women and girls education, well being and sometimes entire lives are affected.

We work to make sure every woman and girl can manage their period with dignity. €150 can provide more than 15 dignity kits that contain items such as reusable pads, soap and underwear. These kits will enable girls to stay in school.

No woman or girl should be held back because of her period.

To raise funds we are asking you to cycle (or walk!) from World Menstrual Hygiene Day (28th May) for either:

1. Over 28 days -  the average length of the menstrual cycle.
2. 28 miles

Or set your own target!

Please donate generously or ask friends and family to sponsor this great cause!
