Story

The Battery Commander of A Battery (The Chestnut Troop) Royal Horse Artillery set the challenge of an arduous task for some members of the battery in order to raise money for the regiment's charity - First Trust.

The challenge we have chosen is Ironman Weymouth 70.3 2018. This consists of:
 - 1.2 mile sea swim
 - 56 mile road cycle
 - 13.1 mile run
All to be completed within an overall cut-off time of 8 hours 30 minutes.

Twelve members have signed up for this challenge; one from each rank from Gunner all the way up to Major.

For all but one, this will be their first (and for some, probably their last!) triathlon and so this is a huge individual commitment in a very busy period where over 50% of the team are currently in Canada as training support for BATUS.

This is very much a 'zero to hero' challenge and we have had to beg and borrow equipment as triathlon is a very expensive sport! Thankfully we are 80% there, with only wetsuits left to find.

First Trust is a charity that supports serving and ex-members of 1st Regiment Royal Horse Artillery, and their families.
