Ironman Kalmar 2020 · 15 August 2020

Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance is Scotland’s only charity-funded air ambulance service. We rely on public support to keep flying and responding to time-critical emergencies wherever they occur in Scotland. No one in Scotland should die because help can't get there in time.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On the 7th September 2019, a simple, easy bike ride took a traumatic turn when my other half misjudged a corner on a descent and ended up being thrown from his bike into a road. He sustained a concussion and required six stitches under his eye.

He was extremely lucky that his helmet saved his life. WE were extremely lucky that 999 sent both a road ambulance AND the SCAA helimed to help us. Although we were not air-lifted to hospital, without their speedy response to provide immediate treatment to Brian, he may not have been so lucky.

The cost of a single life saving mission is, on average, around £2500. That's what I want to raise to repay them for their help.

The are within 25 mins of most places in Scotland. And they provide essential medical support to time-critical injuries.

Thanks to Covid, Kalmar has been rescheduled to 21 August 2021. But I won’t let that stop me. Follow me on social media as I take on 140.6 miles on the 15th August unsupported instead.
