At Speakeasy Speech and language therapists and volunteers provide long term help and support. Speakeasy offers different activities for people to practice their communication, learn new skills and increase confidence.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

After doing a couple of marathons, I've completely lost my mind and decided to push myself through one of the toughest endurance races there is - an Ironman triathlon.

Ironman UK is being held in Bolton and consists of a 2.4 mile open water swim in at Pennington Flash followed by a 112 mile bike ride round Bolton, Winter Hill, Chorley, then finishing with a 26.2 mile run into and around Bolton town centre.

As some of you will know, my mum Jean had a stroke a few years ago and has had problems communicating ever since.  The problem is called Aphasia which affects the way people process words and numbers.  Many of you will be related to, or know of people that have a similar problem, they may even have Aphasia and not know it.

Speakeasy is a local charity that helped my mum considerably after her stroke and continues to give her ongoing support . In fact, it has helped her so much that she is now a patron for Speakeasy and whilst still improving herself is giving her time to help others.

Speakeasy is trying to raise awareness and help people affected regain their confidence and learn to do the things again that come so naturally to you and me.  They have helped my mum so much since she was introduced to them and I really would like to give something back, with your help.

I know times are hard for everyone so we would be most greatful for any donations, whether it is £2 or £20.
