Story

Hi,

my name is Alex and I'm a lifeguard and Gym Instructor from Nuneaton.

Since last year I've also been a wall climbing instructor working with the Pingles stadium, from there I've seen firsthand Nick , Sim, Jared, and the team tirelessly working to improve the locally ran athletics track and secure funding and future events.

Their unrelenting passion for health, fitness and community spirit has inspired me to raise funds for our local NHS workers.

Whilst working there I've had the privilege of meeting, listening to and coaching several nurses, paramedics, secretary's, porters, consultants and other NHS staff that work at the local George Elliot Hospital.

Like everyone nationwide I've witnessed the mammoth task that the NHS has been bravely dealing with these past few months, I've read posts of local charity's and community centres pulling together to deliver food and supplies to those in need, I've seen the goodness of strangers to those who are keeping the country going right now, and I've have been thinking of what I can do to help the people I normally see week in week out that were already going above and beyond what's expected of them.

My Personal Training venture that was due to start up in April is called Ironsides fitness and training, on account of my beard and haircut and viking nickname given to me by both colleagues and members alike. With this in mind it's fair to say shaving off a 3 year old beard will be a noticeable difference, and hopefully something that will help raise money for the George Elliot Hospital NHS Trust Charitable Fund, specifically to the Hospital Staff Health and Wellbeing Fund, which supports activities and wellbeing initiatives that benefit all staff across the hospital.

The Trust receives over £100k a year in charitable donations. These donations come from many different sources including members of the local community, patients, carers and local organisations. Donations range from few pounds to several thousand pounds and a wide variety of activities benefit the charity.

Furthermore, I'd like to once again thank Michael and his team at Mr Anderson's Barbershop, it's always great to see local businesses growing and engaging with our heroes in blue, I believe taht given current events community spirit is needed now more than ever.

And to ensure nothing goes to waste, I have donated my Viking braid to the little princess trust.
