Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

OK - I know I've left it really late - you know, 4 days before the event...BUT...I've been thinking about something a good friend and colleague said to me 4 years ago when I ran the London Marathon.  That would be my 2nd time, and I wasn't going to raise any money.  She said to me, 'that's a missed opportunity.....if you raised just £100, that could make all the difference.'  Actually, I think she was ruder than that.  But you get the message.  Thanks for that KL!

So here I am.  On Sunday I'll be taking on my first Half Ironman - the Outlaw Half.  I start at 6.30am in a wetsuit in rowing lake in Nottingham and swim 1.2miles with 1400 other wetsuited deluded people.  Then try and get the wetsuit off.  Then cycle 56miles.  Then change clothes again. Then run a half marathon.  No naps allowed.

19 weeks ago it seemed impossible, but now it just seems a bit silly.  But I've trained pretty well so here goes.

I'm racing for Samaritans.  It's a charity close to my heart for all sorts of reasons and until a couple of years ago I also volunteered for them.  They get no government funding, and generally run on a shoestring.  Anything you can offer for my local branch will, I know, go a long long way.

I may have left this way too late - but if you do find time, thank you, thank you, thank you!
