Supporting our communities is an integral part of Irwin Mitchell and is important now more than ever.
Alongside our England Rugby partnership activities during the Guinness Six Nations and Women's Six Nations 2021, we're fundraising for a brilliant charity - School of Hard Knocks (SOHK).
SOHK utilises the core values of rugby (Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline & Sportsmanship) to work with unemployed adults to find and sustain employment, and school children at risk of exclusion to help them re-engage with education.
In normal circumstances, their team of rugby coaches, behavioural coaches and counsellors work with 750 vulnerable children on the cusp of being disengaged from mainstream education, by entering their school for half a day, every day for 3 years. The half day session incorporates rugby game time, a class session and one-to-ones for the children, to develop them in a team environment, help them become more resilient individuals and create a growth mind-set.
The pandemic has made this vital programme a lot more difficult to deliver, and the SOHK's entire delivery method has had to adapt.
Whether children or adults, SOHK provide mentoring support to those that need it most within their communities in England, Scotland and Wales. And, as part of the rugby family, we want to help raise awareness and show our support of the fantastic work the SOHK do.
WHAT DOES YOUR DONATION DO?
- £100 allows an at-risk child to learn the core values of rugby through SOHK's unique coaching for a whole term, helping them find the right direction in life.
- £300 allows a vulnerable child to have one-to-one specialist support from SOHK's behavioural experts, which is vital in helping them change their mindset.
- £650 allows SOHK to support a child through tailored rugby coaching and one-to-one mentoring sessions for an entire year.
- £1,000 will fund an away day for one of the SOHK Schools Programmes. These trips are hugely beneficial for their young participants and are a once in a lifetime opportunity for most.
- £5,000 will allow 10 Schools Programmes participants to receive behavioural support from an SOHK specialist for an entire year.
We appreciate any donations, no matter how big or small, which will help us reach our target.
