***This happened to me over a period of 6 months during the Covid pandemic.***
As a soldier, I was looking forward to serving in a real conflict to make a difference and to put to use all my training. A week before deployment abroad, I realised that I couldn't drive and could hardly move. My ribs hurt like hell with unbearable pain, on a scale I had never felt before.

Rushed to A&E, after several tests and scans I was informed that there was a large stone in my kidney. I was informed that the size of the stone and its location meant that my only option was surgery. The thought of going under the knife made me wonder whether I would ever be able to fully recover to my strength levels again. I prayed and let the doctors carry on with the emergency surgery and 2 subsequent surgeries, so 3 in total!

After the surgery I was thankful for the swift action of my doctors and eager to get my strength back. With the support of the medical team and everyone who supported me, I am now back to my normal self. I still carry the scars and sometimes experience pain when I stretch myself too much.

I always tell myself that it takes seconds to destroy but ages to fix, so let's start fixing now by donating any small amount to this cause. This is so that others can also benefit from the treatment that saved me.
