Isaac's Bnei Mitzvah Challenge · 1 July 2022

We receive few books whose main characters represent the full range of childrens experiences. We believe that every child should be able to recognise their lives in the books they read, and to draw inspiration and validation from these characters.

Story

Hi I'm Isaac and in January 2023 I'll be celebrating my barmitzvah.  I wanted to use it as an opportunity to raise money and have chosen a charity to do with my interests.

I love reading books and am ALWAYS reading. It has been a massive part of my life and has given me so much enjoyment and stops me from ever being bored!

I recently found out that one in four disadvantaged children across the UK has fewer than ten books in their own at home, and one in eight children have none. This is not good!

I have decided to trek up two hills in the Lake District; St Sunday Crag (2,572 feet) and Striding and Swirl Edges (taking approx. 7 hours on the mountains) to raise money for The Children's Book Project who redistribute thousands of new and gently used books to children and their families.

Every £200 donated will enable them to source and gift a box of forty picture and chapter books to one of their partner schools during the Spring term.

As you may or may not know - I have not climbed many mountains before so please do give as much as you can to this great cause.

Thanks

Isaac x
