Event: Royal Parks Half Marathon 2022, on 9 October 2022
On Sunday 9th October 2022, almost 100 supporters will be taking on the Royal Parks Half Marathon and running for the Rory Peck Trust. From Ukraine to Uganda the courage of freelance journalists globally and freedom of speech deserves your support.

Story

When I was first given the chance to do this run I was a) immediately in because the Rory Peck Trust is essential and I've personally witnessed do so much good and b) thought it was a motivator to get fit.

I very much still believe in part a).However, it's a week out from the race and I'm quite scared. You see, I hate running. I'm also 36 and did quite a lot of downhill recently so my left knee is not my friend.

But I'm approaching this like so many of my incredible colleagues are asked of — little notice or details with potentially an unpredictable staff member asks of them the impossible.

I will be running/limping for them. So if you have ever hired a fixer, translator, producer and been less than kind — REPENT — and if you're now in a better financial place because you were once a freelancer that benefitted from a fixer/translator/producer relationship then — DONATE!

Even the most well-respected organisations screw up and Rory Peck often fills the gap to help the people that help get the most important stories thrive not survive.
