The number of people diagnosed with cancer is growing, we're doing whatever it takes to help more people with cancer get the best care the UK has to offer, whoever and wherever they are. To donate, volunteer, raise money or campaign with us, call 0300 1000 200 or visit macmillan.org.uk

Story

Today, 1 in 3 people are affected by cancer, a figure which is actually getting closer to 1 in 2. Cancer today, really is a modern day epidemic and no one thinks it’s going to happen to them, until it does.

I was personally affected when i lost my Dad. During my Dads illness i felt completely powerless and wondered how i could help.

The support we were offered by Macmillan was extraordinary, they made an awful life changing event as bearable as it could be and offered us practical skills, warmth and kindness and helped us process such an awful situation.

And while I cannot provide the practical care we received, or do the physical research to improve the survival statistics, I can help raise money to make that possible for other people.

Therefore, i will be taking part in the Shropshire Triathlon in September in order to raise money and awareness. Together we can help those affected.
