Macmillan Jump of their Lives 2023 · 29 April 2023 ·

Macmillan and York Racecourse have partnered together for over 50 years now to help support people living with cancer through a number of activities that have raised millions of pounds.

Story

Six years ago my dad, Karl Budge, was diagnosed with prostate cancer and he asked me to enter the Macmillan Ride of Their Lives at York Racecourse and we raised nearly £20,000.

This year, my Dad was going to volunteer for the jump himself, and even had all the paperwork filled out, but has just been told his cancer has spread to his spine and so has asked me to take his place.

As many of you reading this will know, hearing that someone you love has cancer stops your world, and theirs, from turning. For my Dad to be told the cancer is back is heart breaking for our family.

And so I will be taking to the skies in April, taking part in a tandem skydive at Bridlington Airfield, East Yorkshire to raise awareness and vital funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
