Great Manchester Run Half Marathon 2019 · 19 May 2019 ·

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

As a former carer I have worked with people with this condition and have seen the struggle that people and their loved ones face daily with this disease. It is truly heartbreaking.

Now as a software developer I still want to give back but in a different way. So I'm running this half marathon with my friend from university of 10 years who's running 3 marathons this year including this one. She's supporting me on the day.

To fundraise I wrote 3 poems in 2014 during a short stay in hospital and I'm offering the poems as a pay as you feel basis and you can even vote for your favourite one too! Which if the judges pick as their favourite means you will be entered into a raffle prize draw to win a £50 hamper of goodies of your choice!

This is because the poems will be entered into a local Poetry Prize competition where the winner could win £1000.

If I win with my poems I will donate ALL the money to Alzheimer's Society!
