Isla Maplethorpe - Family Head Shave

Isla Maplethorpe - Family Head Shave to support children with Craniosyntosis · 15 May 2020
In a few weeks, our family were planning to do a run to raise money for Headlines - a charity that offers support to families and children going through the life-changing diagnosis of Craniosynostosis. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, the run has been cancelled. However, the next best idea to raise some money for the charity was a family head shave!
About Isla Maplethorpe (My Goddaughter and Niece)
Isla was born in October 2018 with a rare condition called Craniosynostosis. Due to the condition being so rare, Isla spent a huge amount of time in hospital as they struggled to diagnose her condition. As well as contending with this she also had to undergo heart surgery at 6-months old. Isla is currently awaiting major surgery to treat her condition which will entail the rebuilding of her skull to give her brain room to grow. Unfortunately, there are many other children going through similar battles so we want to raise some money to support Headlines and the great work they do!
What is Craniosynostosis?
Craniosynostosis is a birth defect in which the bones in a baby's skull join together too early. This happens before the baby's brain is fully formed. As the baby's brain grows, the skull can become more misshapen. As a result of Craniosynostosis, children can face a range of problems including development issues/delays.
What we are doing?
Shaving our heads :) Due to various starting hair lengths... some mop-chops may be shorter than others.
