Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

In July 2018, my dad Jon sadly lost his three-year battle with repeating brain tumours. He passed away on the 18th of July at the Salisbury Hospice.
The incredible care the Hospice gave Jon, us as a family, and his friends, made this difficult time so much easier by allowing us to enjoy the time we had left with him in a caring, calm and comfortable environment. They have continued to support our family and the knowledge that Jon was in the best possible care when he passed away has brought us so much comfort.
In memory of Jon, George, a very close friend of the family, and I have decided to show our support the Hospice and the amazing work they do for so many families by taking part in a mammoth cycling and swimming challenge. Originally the "Island to Island" challenge, we were going to be cycling and swimming from Holy Island in Northumberland, to Brownsea Island in Poole Harbour, Dorset. Due to coronavirus restrictions this was postponed and ultimately we decided in order to get this done, we'd have to change our plan.

SO, the plan is now to base ourselves in Southsea, and cycle 500 miles over 6 days. That's an average of over 80 miles a day. Then, on the 7th day, we're in the water, and we swim 5km from Portsmouth Harbour to Langstone Harbour.

It's not quite the journey we'd originally planned, but it's still a huge challenge and we're excited to give it our best shot. This will take place from Wednesday 16th - Tuesday 22nd June.

The Hospice relies hugely on donations to be able to give continued care to people who need it most and their families. We hope you can support this challenge, and any donations will be gratefully received.

Thank you.
