Just4Children are fundraising for Isla the Incredible to have therapy and specialist equipment to better enable her to fight for independence to reach her full potential.

Isla is our bright, inquisitive 7 year old daughter who, owing to a birth injury, has quadriplegic cerebral palsy and needs lots of regular therapy to help her.

Isla made a speedy entry to the world but tragically suffered a hypoxic injury at birth, had to be taken for immediate resuscitation, transferred to another hospital for medical cooling and spent the first 5 weeks of her life in intensive care. It was 5 whole days before we were able to hold our precious, much longed-for baby.

A little more about our super star. She is non-ambulant but walks with a walker, is non-verbal, but understands everything! Has a high level of receptive and expressive language using different methods of communication, including eye-gaze, PODD book, partner assisted scanning and switches. She is an adrenaline junkie, has a great sense of humour, loves to cause mischief, dance and laugh out loud!

Isla has privately funded physiotherapy. However, the more therapy and access to specialised equipment she has, especially in the formative years, the more we help her to reach her optimum potential and allow her some independence.

We are now overjoyed to have the world renowned NAPA Centre here in the UK which we attend 3 times yearly. These intensive blocks help Isla to build new neural connections, have a stronger core, work on sitting unaided, take stronger steps, have better head and neck control, work on fine motor control in upper limbs, practice her communication as (Isla certainly has a lot she wants to say!), and much more. We are also hoping to take Isla to SwimLab next year - an intensive hydrotherapy programme designed to help improve cognitive, physical & motor functions and increase independence.

Isla has an infectious smile, tries SO hard and brings joy to everyone she meets. Helping Isla the Incredible to reach her full potential would be the best gift we could ever give her.
