My father, Len was active and accomplished.  He ran a successful dental practice  and was a leading light in rowing in the North West long before Steve Redgrave made the sport so popular, setting a few records himself.  Dad loved music, he loved travel; he was passionate about naval history.   He was widely read and extremely knowledgeable on these subjects.  Dad was incredibly kind and patient.  Other people often remarked on his politeness.   Dementia devastated him and us, my brother and sister, our aunt, his wife.  It took away a much loved father, grandfather, brother and husband.
