Hebrides Mountain Rescue Team have been using a building in Stornoway to store our vehicles and kit, and hold meetings and training courses in. Unfortunately this building is being redeveloped soon, and we will shortly be moving into a smaller space, hopefully on a temporary basis. 

Plans are afoot to develop our own team base, and planning permission is currently being sought so that land can be purchased. Although there are some excellent funding bodies out there who will be helping towards the costs involved, and we aren’t planning anything too flashy, this is obviously a huge amount of investment for a small team like us to make. To that end, i’m trying to raise some cash, since every little helps.. More information about what the team do can be found on our page :)

Those who know me will be aware that I love getting out walking, running & climbing in the mountains, but have always seen running on roads as a bit of a nightmare... So I’m taking on the challenge of running a road marathon on Harris on August 10th 2019. There will most likely be wind/ rain/ midgies/ tears (or at least some of the above!)... but it’s all for a good cause!
