Istanbul Marathon · 16 November 2014

Matthew's Friends provide information and support for children and adults using Ketogenic Dietary Therapies for epilepsy, Glut1DS, and other neurological disorders.

Story

As a group we are attempting to run the Istanbul marathon in November.  The first time any of us has attempted one and as it is becoming tougher need some extra motivation therefore we are hoping to raise some money for our chosen charity Matthews Friends.

The Top Team:

Eamonn Doherty: Initial training consisted of driving in a car to see how far 26 miles was. Was very shocked

Peter Todd: Has undertaken by far the least training of all of us. Least likely to finish, training halted by a dislocated toe which he fixed himself. It has now gone green.

Milo Zanecchia: Surprise package, already doing regular 12 mile runs

Douglas Ruthven: Going to be beaten by his sister

Isabel Ruthven: The Winner (probably)

Tabitha Gould:  Her mother is concerned for her life

Thomas Dolan:  Trying to fit in with his family of runners

The reason we have chosen this particular charity is that they have been very providing fantastic support recently to Top Team Member Thomas' sister Dervla and her husband Keith after their son Harry was diagnosed with Epilepsy.

We are grateful for any support that you can give this great charity, and feel free to have a bet on who is going win / finish / survive...

Any amount will be greatly appreciated and in addition to Matthews friends any money raised offline will go to buying equipment to support the families of the children in the Paul Ward in Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children.

Thank you!
