Story

On Sunday 10 October, seven of iTech Media's finest ArciTech's will be taking to the parks of London to run a whopping 21.1km and raise money for Solving Kids' Cancer.

Meet the iTech seven!

Andrea Mestriner, Head of Experimentation and Analytics

In his own words:

"Running has always been my way to remove stress and regain focus as well as the simpler way to escape my two kids 🙂 During lockdowns I started to give myself new objectives and decided to do at least three races in a year with one of them being a full marathon. Running the Royal Parks Half Marathon will mean in my city I can do something to raise awareness on opportunities to help children."

Celine Capaldo, UX Researcher

In her own words:

"Running has been my go-to sport for as long as I remember and has gotten me through some truly trying times in my life but has also given me some of my most memorable moments.

"I ran the London Marathon a few years back with my dad - he has always been my running inspiration. I have also hobbled my way through a few half marathons, 5k and 10k races over the years.

"I consider myself lucky to be able to train for the Royal Parks Half Marathon with some of the best colleagues around and for such a brilliant charity!

"I truly can’t wait for us all to celebrate at the finish line and revel in the shared effort and achievement!"

Dan Waller, Video Production Manager

In his own words:

"I’ve enjoyed four half marathons previously and am looking forward to raising money to support such an incredible cause.

"After a long lockdown I’m really trying to get back into shape and am really excited towork towards this half marathon, putting a training program together and having something to focus on."

George Blackwell, Content Editor

In his own words:

"I’m really looking forward to challenging myself with an official half marathon race, especially as it’s for such a great charity.

"Having only ever officially run 10k in the Bupa/Vitality races, I’ll be looking to better my PB for 13.1 miles which I completed in lockdown last year."

Harley Kisberg, CEO

In his own words:

"I've got no professional running history apart from 5k runs around the block, trying to beat my own PB!

"Having been introduced by a friend to Solving Kids' Cancer a while ago, it's become a cause that's particularly close to my heart after having my own daughter, Lily.

"I love knowing that taking part in this race means I get to help raise awareness for such an important cause. "

Maisie MacDonald, Product Designer

In her own words:

"I’ve been enjoying running for around two years. I’ve done multiple half marathons and will be completing a full marathon later this year (a week before this race, wish me luck!) I love giving back and I can’t wait to get the opportunity to raise money for a great cause, as well as running with my colleagues!"

Shing Mon Chung, Content Marketing Specialist

In her own words:

"I hate running."

About the charity:

Solving Kids’ Cancer UK is a truly parent-led charity, fighting for a future where no child dies of neuroblastoma or suffers due to its treatment.

Despite the most intensive, toxic and painful treatment, 40% of children with high-risk neuroblastoma will not survive. Those who do survive often suffer lifelong health problems because of the harsh treatments they receive as young children.

Solving Kids’ Cancer does this by;

  • Providing hope, information and support to families throughout their journeys
  • Facilitating access to treatment in partnership with clinicians and researchers
  • Advancing science through investment and clinical research
  • Advocating for more effective and less toxic treatments
