Ivan's Simulated Ascent of Noshaq (7,492m)

The Ascent of Noshaq (7,492m) · 3 August 2020
I am presently serving as an Army Chaplain in Afghanistan, and I intend to simulate an ascent of Noshaq (7492m), Afghanistan's highest mountain peak, during the month of August. This will be done from 03 August 20 by climbing a set of fire escape stairs (16.25m), 461 times, whilst wearing my body armour which weighs approx. 10 kgs.
The reason I am doing this is to support the fundraising efforts of my friend Revd John Stanbridge, Minister of Ballycastle Presbyterian Church, and three members of the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service based at Ballycastle, Conor O'Kane, Keith Rochoy and Daniel McAuley. On 25 / 26 July they completed a 24 hour sponsored walk for 'Hannah's PCIU Fundraiser'.
Hannah's PICU Fundraiser was started to raise money for the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at The Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children,
through the auspices of the hospitals charity, Helping Hand. Five year old Hannah Smyth, from Ballycastle, was a patient at the PICU following a tragic road traffic collision on 12 May 2020, which claimed the lives of Hannah's Mummy, and her three-year old Sister. Following the incident the NIAS crew who treated Hannah at the scene asked Revd Stanbridge to approach Hannah's Daddy, and ask his permission to raise money for the PICU, and so Hannah's PICU Fundraiser was birthed.
To date over £45000.00 has been raised for Hannah's PICU Fundraiser through the efforts of John, Conor, Keith and Daniel. Hannah's Daddy has given his permission for me to complete this event in an attempt to raise further money.
Can I please encourage you to donate, if you are able, to this fundraising effort. The Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children PICU do an amazing job, and the moneys raised will directly impact the Helping Hand charity. This charity was established to provide the best equipment, to fund research, education and to support the immediate needs of children and their parents at the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children.
Thank You and God Bless.
Ivan.
