Story
Hello everyone, thank you for taking the time to visit my page. Let me tell you a bit more about my journey...
I will be walking 500 miles from Northumberland to my hometown of Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire. I leave on the 10th April, and I think I'll get to the other end around early June.
I'll be hugging England's eastern coast from Middlesbrough to Filey in Yorkshire; I'll be checking in at my old uni-city of 'ull (City of Culture 2017, no less); I'll be following national paths through York, Leeds, Sheffield, and Derby; and plodding (or possibly crawling by then) alongside canals for much of the remainder with a tent on my back and with blisters on my feet.
Physically and mentally it's going to suck: when cold and damp sets in, when my legs turn lead heavy, when I have to get out of my sleeping bag in the morning, and when I inevitably find myself questioning my life decisions as I'm stood, lost, in some field without GPS but with The Proclaimers playing on loop in my head.
But it's a worthy cause to suffer a little for! And one that I hope you will be happy to support.
Age UK Buckinghamshire have been helping older people across the county to enjoy later life for over 70 years. Each of their services are geared toward increasing the well-being of older people, who I believe deserve better than the company of a television.
One of the major services they provide is Befriending. This service supports lonely and socially isolated older people by providing weekly companionship and support.
So please, support my challenge and kindly make a donation to Age UK Buckinghamshire, so that they can continue their good work.
