Isle of Wight Ultra Challenge 2023 · 29 April 2023 to 30 April 2023 ·

LSC promotes the use of facilities for swimming, including swimming skills and water safety, for the local community. This needs to be affordable to all. We are run entirely by volunteers, who we train, to enable both children and adults to swim in a safe and friendly environment.

Story

I am taking on the Isle of Wight Ultra Challenge on the 29th April and this will involve walking from Chale Base Camp to Cowes which is just under 33 miles (53km - that's more than a marathon).. in one go!

I will be supported by my friend Maddie who will be walking half of the distance with me and cheered on (hopefully!) by you guys!

I am raising money for local charity, Overton Community Pool - a place that is very dear to my heart. For context, Overton's pool is where I learnt to swim as a child and I have been volunteering there since the age of 16 (that's 7 years!) The pool has been a lifeline for me and many others, and is entirely volunteer led. It offers low cost and subsidised swimming lessons and sessions for all ages.

Overton pool relies on the support of our local community and grants to keep the pool running, so to help support its upcoming refurbishments, I aim to raise as much money as I can so that future generations can continue to enjoy having such a wonderful community asset.

Thank you for reading this far - I'll keep you updated with my training and the actual walk when it comes down to it. I really appreciate your support!

Here goes... 🤞🚶
