My story began when I was diagnosed with Developmental Dysplasia of both hips when I was a baby. 

I had various treatment including being on traction for 2 weeks when I was 6 months old and operations at 18 months with a full Hip Spica Plaster from under my chest down to my ankles. My Mum says I adapted very well and even learnt to walk with it, but it wasn't so good when I had to deal with Chicken Pox too. 

I had a further operation when I was 8 on my left hip and the Hip Spica again, and this was hard to deal with but I can now say I did it, I managed! I continue to have annual checkups with my super amazing consultant and my progress is good. One of my GCSE options was Sports Studies and I also enjoy my Horse Riding Lessons. 

Our family friends own a gym and hold a charity truck pull every year, and having watched my parents tackle this, I decided this year it was my turn. I believe that keeping strong and healthy will help me as I get older. 

I have had such wonderful support from my family, friends, my consultant and charities that I would like to raise money for others with a similar condition and also raise awareness. I don't know how the DDH will affect me in the future but I hope to be the best I can.
