Skydive for Keynsham Mencap! · 3 October 2021

We are a community based self funding charity affiliated to National Mencap. We support 150 local adults and children with learning and or physical disabilities to access regular social, leisure, sporting and respite opportunities.

Story

I am going to be flying through the clouds from 15,000ft in a tandem skydive on Oct 3rd 2021 to raise money for my favourite charity!

Please donate what you can :)

Keynsham and District Mencap Society provide social opportunities via a fully inclusive program of activities for people that have a broad range of profound and multiple learning disabilities and complex needs including Autism, Down's Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy and Attention Deficit Disorder.

The charity's work is essential in reducing isolation, facilitating friendships, building confidence and increasing self esteem amongst its community.

On a weekly basis, Keynsham Mencap run 10 projects. These include; social clubs for adults and children, music lessons and sports clubs, they also organise group holidays, community outings and outdoor pursuit activities. Their aim is to offer people with learning disabilities the same opportunities as their ‘peers’ in a safe and supported environment. Whilst at the same time providing much needed respite to parents and carers.

I have been a volunteer at Keynsham Mencap for almost 4 years. I volunteer weekly at 'Club25', a group for adults with learning disabilities and 'The Music Man Project', an inclusive music club for individuals ages 16+. This charity is really important to me because I have hugely benefitted from volunteering with Mencap and get to witness the positive impact the clubs and volunteers have on the members and their families. Please take a look at their website below if you want to find out more..
