The Goal:
We will be attempting to complete a double marathon, over the beautiful, but very vertically challenging, Cotswold Way.

To complete the distance we will have to run for about 10 hours non-stop, and climb the equivalent to a quarter of the height of Everest, so we’re definitely going to earn any sponsorship money.

Why:
We’re hoping to raise at least £200 for a great local charity, CCP, that helps transform lives and prevent homelessness, especially youth homelessness, something that is more vital than ever since lockdown has turned lives upside down.

Izzy:
I thought that having a challenge would help me to focus and forget about the craziness of the last few months, and how much the world has changed.

I’ve mostly been a road runner, but always loved hiking and the mountains. During lockdown I decided to venture more into the trails and I’ve found my true love in running.

I love every minute of it. The pace. The stops. The scenery. The challenge. All the green...all of it!

My longest ever run has been 50k, or just over 4 hours, so this is totally out of my comfort zone!

I’m learning from Dave’s ultra experience too, and I’m so happy to have a partner in crime in this adventure.

Dave:
Izzy and I have both run marathons before, and even the odd ultra, but I’ve never done anything quite like this, and I must say I’m really nervous about the whole thing.

After a year of road running, Izzy has helped me find my love of running in the countryside again, and has been showing me some of the beautiful trails around Gloucestershire (yes, the lady from Madrid has been showing me around my home county😂).

With pretty much every race being cancelled this year we decided to set ourselves our own challenge, to run an ultra. Somehow that goal grew from a simple 30 miler, to a double marathon over very hilly terrain. What were we thinking?! Imagine getting to marathon distance and thinking ‘oh god I’ve got another marathon to go’.

I know it’s going to be really tough, and that elevation is no joke, but we’ll keep each other moving in those tough moments and hopefully pull each other through 💪💪.
