Story

Hi, I am Izzy, I am 12 years old, and I am a keen club swimmer. I want to raise money for the children of Ukraine by undertaking a six-week cross-channel swim in Driffield Swimming Pool. I will be swimming 35 kilometres (22 miles ) which is equivalent to a cross-channel swim. I am deeply affected by the events in Ukraine and want to do all I can to support the innocent children who are victims of the war.

Ukraine's children are living in fear. They face ever-present danger of being killed, injured or suffering severe emotional distress. The war is forcing children and families to shelter in basements and bomb shelters to escape explosions. They have already lived through eight years of conflict, enduring violence, shelling, and being forced to flee their homes.7.5 million Ukraine children are now in danger. Amid freezing temperatures, power cuts and food shortages, every day is a struggle to survive. Families are forced to flee their homes. They need urgent help accessing water, shelter, and food.

Please donate to encourage me in my challenge and raise important funds for the children in need. I will be recording my swims from club sessions and doing extra distance in my free time. My parents, James and Angela, will make sure I cover every metre of the challenge.

Izzy

Edit: wow! Thank you all so much for your donations. I have increased my target to £500. I am looking forward to all 1,416 lengths (gulp!). 😊
