Story

Dear friend,

As I'm already blessed with plenty of mugs, socks and books at home (although not with copious cupboard space), I'd like to suggest making a donation to Bees Abroad to help me celebrate this minor milestone in life.

We've kept bees in our garden for the last 6 years or so. They're fascinating creatures, so I decided to embark on a beekeeping course myself last spring to learn more about them and to give me the confidence to handle them myself. We're also hoping this will increase our chances of getting our bees through the next winter alive!

Whereas we keep bees as a hobby (I think we're yet to break even after all these years - replacing bees that perish in the winter is surprisingly expensive!), beekeeping has the potential to generate a good income and I think it's a wonderful thing that there is a charity committed to help people to do just that.

Bees Abroad is a charity run by UK beekeepers and supporters who work as volunteers worldwide to reduce poverty. They work with overseas partners to equip low-income communities with beekeeping skills to generate income, improve their environment and crops through pollination, and learn the necessary business skills to make their enterprises sustainable and profitable.
